'Freitag'ged!!

When I was in school I used to be an avid collector of ‘Reader’s Digest’ esp. the older editions. And every time I get to grab one of em I flip directly two sections before reading further…One was ‘Laughter the best medicine’ and the other was ‘Quotable Quotes’…Now to do this tag from Thomas who am sure when he gets older gets married and have kids would be addressed as ‘Thommanum Makkallum’…Not to mention the fact that apostle Mathew never says ‘NO’ to a buddy apostle though he wont believe it until ‘he actually see me doing the tag’ !! ;-P

So here goes the tag…

Jot down 5 of your favorite quotes from the various books you’ve read. If you don’t have the books with you now, googling (Wikiquotes and the like) can be used to find them. Tag five people and acknowledge the person who tagged you.

1.We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.
----Professor Keating (Robin Williams) in 'Dead Poet's Society'

2. We do no great things, only small things with great love.—Mother Teresa
This is one quote which inspires me a lot..If there is one thing I can claim that I have never done over the last few years is shout angrily or really hate a person and I must thank Mother Teresa for teaching me the importance of selfless love…

3. It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.---Anne Frank

4. When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will finally know peace.----Jimi Hendrix

5. Life is like topography, Hobbes. There are summits of happiness and success, flat stretches of boring routine, and valleys of frustration and failure.” Calvin
There is no better reference book than Calvin which explains our life!!

I would like to pass on this tag to

Luvved that Calvin quote! That goes into my kitty now! And really liked the quote by Mother Teresa too. She is right. That should be the maxim to live by. I have known the frustrations of not having done big things, then I learned to be satisfied with my small accomplishments. Like little drops of water make the mighty ocean (another nice quote from a poem) I guess Mother Teresa made little acts of kindness snowball into a giant movement for the downtrodden!!

Hey thanks for the tag. I'm also a gr8 fan of few of the quotes you've written, Esp the Dead Poets Society one. It's so true, simple yet inspiring. Same about the Anne Frank line, belief in goodness inspite of all the adversities. As praveen said, no brainy quotes! :)

This is such a cool tag. The only problem is that one has to limit the number of quotes to 5.It's a tough ask, na?

Your choices were too good, though. Especially since they are all short.I'm hearing the Hendrix and Calvin tags for the first time. Loved both of them.

correction-

What a coincidence ! I was thinking why i missed anne while commenting your latest post on Germany. This is about a converstaion between Ann,Margot and Otto from the Film Anne Frank (not the old Academy award winner directed by George STevens'.This one has Ben Kingsley as Otto and Hannah Taylor Gordon as Ann directed by Robert Dornhelm.Hope u have seen)The night Ann dreams Hannali/Lies and come to Otto and Margot, she says she hate Germans.Do you remember Mathew ? Otto with lots of patience elaborates her that you cant call all Germans like that coz' Persons like Miep are helping them and all.Otto is the other name for dignity. He always stood there as an ideal to all.Keeping dignity and modesty always is a difficult task..isnt it ? After the war,Miep gies herself has written that even she was intolerant to German Visitors who came to Ann Museum. It was otto Frank who changed her attitude.Like that when Gestapo see the army trunk carried by Otto, they ask why he didnt register as a veteran..the answer is a dignified silence.I most often look upto Otto for his modesty and nobility as a human being..Model..Isnt it ?

Hi Mats. Nice quotes. Will do the tag soon. The one I like most is the Robin Williams's quote.
